Ore no panda?!

Watch, as I convince anyone who thought I had a brain that I either had you all fooled or lost it sometime recently.

In my defense, though, it's late and it's been a long day.

And I do know that's not what he's saying, but now I'm so tickled I can't quit thinking it.

If you haven't seen the new ACC trailer -- the one with Safe and Sound -- you should go watch it now.

At around 0:54, Cloud is talking to Marlene and he says something to her that -- on first listen -- sounded like "ore no panda" to my untrained ear.  Second listen sounded like maybe it was "ore no bantha" which really isn't any better (although maybe Cloud is a Star Wars fan).

Now, though, I can't get the idea of Cloud telling Marlene that he's a panda out of my head.  ^^;;  Maybe one of you nice people can tell me what he really says, and I can try to convince my so-tired-I'm-silly brain to release this thought.

Oh, and since I'm spouting crack-brained ideas, I'll also pimp out a crackfic I found through elanor_pam .  It made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe and got a headache.  This Army Life

I don't know what he's saying, sorry, except that it's part of something long--it was the very end of what he was saying. It's the same thing he said on another of the Advent Children trailers. My friend Maggie said it sounds like part of it,he's talking about Tifa and Denzel and Marlene always saving him, and the very end of that speech is what you're hearing, but I have no idea what it actually says.

That trailer is fantastic, though. I want to squeeze the kids--poor little Denzel talking on the phone with Tifa at the beginning. And that scene where Marlene is resting her hand on Cloud's geostigma arm? GAH. I love her to pieces. About half a dozen ideas for writing something from that popped into my head as soon as I saw that. ;)

Yeah, I know it's not really what he's saying... and I can pick out the names and a few other words (tasukete and zutto). It still sounds like the word is panda though and that's where my brain stops. ^^;

I read that Marlene, Denzel, and the moogle girl have different VA in ACC because their voices changed -- which makes sense -- but still makes me sad 'cause Marlene was so very perfect.

On the other hand, I hope the NA release has the sense to do the same (for the same reasons) and that they also redub Aerith as her voice in English is just... wrong.

You should still totally write a story about Marlene being referred to as a panda or something. It's very giggle-worthy. ^_^

I was wondering how they were going to manage the voiceovers--I guess it makes sense that they would need entirely new actors, or it would sound weird.

It would be cool if they got the person who did Aerith in the English Crisis Core to do her voice for ACC, because I loved how she sounded there.

"Ore no panda" means "MY Panda" not "I am a panda", so it would appear that Cloud is calling Marlene his panda, which is cute :P

Wait... you weren't seriously saying that's what he's saying, right? Just that it sounds like it... and what it really means if it were what he was saying.

Nah, I was just saying that if he WERE saying Ore no Panda, it would mean my panda.

Upon listening to it, I first thought he said
"Ore no ban, da na?"
Which is kinda like saying "It's my ban, eh?"

But I couldn't find a good definiton for "ban" that fit.

So I thought he might be saying "Ore no banda, na?" which is basically... it's my banda, eh? haha

So I looked up banda and it means roughly "many branches".

This might fit, because he'd just been talking about tifa, marlene, and denzel and how he always has to rescue them. Maybe he means that they are... like limbs to him? Extensions of him?

Or maybe I'm just making this all up and heard wrong, which happens all the time. Maybe he IS a panda.

Extensions/parts of him is kind of a nice thought. Cloud being all smushy. =)

I still like panda though, just cause it makes me laugh everytime. >.< Tae no baka!

I just have this goofy idea stuck in my head though and it makes me laugh. And I like to laugh. =D

And I'm also trying to figure out a way to make him actually call Marlene a panda and have it seem plausible. Then I think about his bear in a marshmallow comment and I wonder if it even needs to be plausible...
