sekiharatae: (What the...)
Much to my surprise, I got a notice late last week that my order was shipping... and it arrived today.

So, for the curious:

I sprayed it on a few squares of tissue, and my initial reaction was that it was too feminine. Not quite flowery exactly, but... feminine. Flowery without the sweet maybe? Perfumey? (Hopefully this makes sense.)

That was almost the only thing that struck me, and it struck me as horridly off (I don't want to know what Aerith smells like, nor what it smells like if Cloud sleeps in the flower bed for a few weeks 24/7, thank you). There was a note underneath, though, that was different, so I let it dry and came back later.

Second reaction: it's very pervasive. I sprayed 2 -- count them, 2 -- sprays, and an hour later, my entire first floor smells like it to me. We have a 3000 square foot house, and I sprayed the stuff and left the tissue on the bathroom counter. I didn't walk around the house with it.

Third reaction: For whatever reason, it smells more masculine the further away I am. (Which is just ODD.) Up close, it still smells rather feminine, and reminds me a bit of the make-up counter area in fine department stores. XD But a bit further away, that perfume fades into the background, and the spicy tone characteristic of masculine scents comes to the fore.

Near or far, there is a note that smells -- for lack of a better word -- green. It reminds me of grass rather than flowers, so they got that part right.

On the whole, my downstairs smells rather pleasant, but I don't know that it smells like Cloud. It's too smooth, if that makes any sense. I think... it smells like he might smell fresh out of the shower, if he were to put on cologne. (And you were a room away, since it smells too feminine up close. XD)

I may see if the hubby will try it, so I can see what it smells like on someone, as it usually makes a difference. I'm not going to put it on myself, as my vasomotor reaction is already having a field day with the tissue. >.<

WHat the hell did they put in that perfume?? Flowers? Get that Pinkie out of the bottle! :P

I am fairly sure it were men who designed that perfume. They got problems with catching a scent , be it to put in a bottle or just smell it off someone(best example, my boyfriend insisting I smell like the beach when using my caffeine-based perfume).

Try it on hubby, and let us know about the difference!

Hubby is willing (he sniffed the bottle and thought it smelled pretty good) just haven't gotten around to it yet. I'll let you know. =)

Maybe they were going for the perfume he wore when he was in drag or something? XD;;;

I have to agree flowery so NOT Cloud. He needs a gritty, but not dirty, scent, if that makes sense...something utterly masculine.

Flowers? No, just no. Grass...yeah, that I can see. Anxious to know what it smells like. :)

I guess this is what unisex perfume is supposed to smell like? I think their prime target customer is women-- since fangirls are more likely to buy it--so they made it more feminine.
I imagine Cloud's cologne to be close to a fresh ocean breeze scent, like Aqua Di Gio.
But it must be pretty concentrated if it pervaded the entire house! Do you think the price range is right?

Uh.... I truthfully have no idea. ^^; If my hubby decides to wear it, I do think it's a nicer scent than most cheap stuff.

hmm... this perfume sounds(smells) more like Aerith than anything, with the whole flower thing. I see what you are trying to describe, and that doesn't seem very Cloud-ish ^__^" are you disappointed in it, or are you glad to have bought it?

Well, it's not exactly flowers, that's just the best comparison I can make, other than to say it's generically feminine and perfumey (and isn't THAT a helpful description!) It doesn't have any vanilla or fruit undertones, either.

I wonder what my hubby will describe it as? We often pick up different things.

And maybe those who get a sample will share their opinions, too!

As for disappointed... I'm disappointed that I don't think it smells like I think Cloud smells. On the other hand, I don't know if it's possible to bottle a leather/mint/grass/smoke/crisp air scent. (Writing it out like that, it seems like a lot to ask...)

However, since my curiosity would have eaten me alive if I didn't find out what it smelled like, and most of the time I like being alive, so that's a positive for buying it. ;)

As an aside... I might be catching a cold. My hubby just came back from shopping and brought me a white chocolate mocha, and I thought it tasted like chocolate raspberry. O.o

0_0 Cloud cologne? I would think he'd smell a little grittier.. (is that a word?)

I'm all sorts of curious now.

I have never much into perfume things, eventho I'm a girl. So I don't really have comparison what is the nearest to ideal perfume that has a scent that is matching with Cloud's.

But well, imagining Cloud, I guess the most possible-to-make scent is the mix around mint-grass, to add more feminine or sweeter scent to it, sandalwood-pine and maybe a bit of apple or very little amount of vanilla scent will fit.

The nearest comparison I have.. oh yea, I remember. It was used by father a long time ago. Something by Harley Davidson. I like it, masculine but somehow.. good :D

And by the way you described it, I really don't think it's like what Cloud should be scented as too.
(*evenmore to CloTi shippers I guess? :P)

okay, gotta take a bit break, see ya soon! ;)

Oh, I have to tell you--I was telling Ryke the other day that they actually made a Cloud-smell cologne and how amusing I found that, and he was mentioning all the things it would have to smell like--he mentioned blood from fighting monsters LOL and rum from living in a bar and a bunch of other stuff. Then at the end, he was like, "Oh! And like Tifa! They'd have to have some kind of feminine smell on him from Tifa." And I cracked up because you had mentioned that your first reaction was that it was too feminine.
