Akabeko relocating or closing; not sure which

Dreamhost sent me a letter this week telling me that come December I can no longer use the sekihara.dreamhost.com subdomain. 

Phooey.

I can register a new domain, or switch to a different subdomain on dreamhosters.com, or just let the site die.  Strangely, even if the site dies my email will persist, so whatever I do I don't have to worry about changing that.

I have no idea what (I want) to do.  =/

ETA:  I can't get sekihara.com or sekihara.net...

i have always loved the akabeko and visit it now and again to reread stories there. i seem to discover something new sometimes, unless it's just senility that makes it seem that way.

I have updated it a few times since I resurfaced on LJ. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

I've got a month to ponder on what to change it to. I can make it sekiharatae.com... it's just that then my mail would be tae@sekiharatae.com and that's a little too James Bondish. ;)

I'm leaning toward using akabeko somehow... it's just that I have other stuff up there besides the akabeko. So I'd rather have used sekihara.com if I could get it.

Eeee! Somehow, an Internet without the Akebeko seems like a much sadder Internet.

So, even sekihara.dreamhosters.com won't work? What about using "akebeko" in the domain name?

The thing about dreamhosters is that I can't figure out how to change it from one subdomain to another. I'll have to submit a support request to find out.

The management interface has a really easy thing to swap from the current subdomain to a new domain... so I think I must be missing something somewhere.

They've decided not to let anyone use a dreamhost.com subdomain. Something about how if anyone does something 'naughty' on a dreamhost.com subdomain (like, I'm guessing, hosting some sort of illegal or objectionable site) it comes back on dreamhost itself.

...oh my God.
I was typing up a rec for your fic Lessons on crack_van and came here to check that I had the correct LJ name for you, saw this post and nearly had a heart attack. The Akabeko was the very first RK fanfic site I ever visited possibly because it was at the top of the alphabetically-ordered list on Anipike, haha. I've enjoyed it and your stories for years, and I think it would be a tragedy if the site died.

Anyway, just the two cents of a lurker! I'll link my rec to the old Akabeko anyway, and I hope that I'll be able to change the link to a new site sometime. :)
