Exactly on the aspartame. My dad is a chemist (retired now), and he looked at what it was and said flat out that it was bad.
As for spirituality, that's essentially why I specified 'organized' religion rather than just religion. Individual belief in god is a marvelous thing; I don't have it, but I can see why a person would benefit, and I have no gripes. Organized religion, on the other hand, tends to use faith as an excuse to promote ignorance, war, prejudice... pretty much all the ills most religions claim to be against. Some version of the mob mentality at work I suppose.
