Don't feel bad for sales people who have shitty tactics. We are obligated (and financially need) to knock on your door/call your house and give our pitch. That doesn't mean we have to be rude, overly aggressive, or invade your space. Give a polite "no" and a reason if you can, and don't feel like you need to do more!
Smart sales people know better than that. They'd have been smarter to be polite, give you their card, and use their time going to more houses.
