I basically feel the same way, now that I think about it. I read it like the summer it came out (waaaay before it got popular) and was like ok thats a nice 'i'm bored, what to read' book. It wasn't phenomonal but it was ok. Then suddenly everyone was spazzing and freaking out about this book. It didn't bother me til my 13 year old sister started reading it. And then I remembered parts of the book that had behaviors that I really didn't want her to see as 'normal' (such as the 'climb in through your window and watch you while you sleep' bit. Because that is just creepy.). My friends liked the books at first, but when we started talking about it and doing the 'what if this happened to you in real life...' game and they collectively realized that they would kicck the ass of any guy that tried to do what Edward does. So when someone asks me if I liked the books, I usually do the 'wishy washy hands' bit. And the explain that i didn't hate it, i just saw some things in it I have problems accepting, which is nice cause then they ask me what those are :3
