Going to read Twilight

I have decided to obtain a copy of Twilight this very day, so I can read it and decide for myself exactly what I think of it.  And Bella.  And Edward.

Sadly, this probably will just require a trip to the grocery store...

I will post a review.

I'm sure you'll all wait with bated breath to see what I say.  =P

it will burn your eye sockets. it made me cry because it was so terribly written.

Oh god, don't buy it! Please! At least get it from the library or something, don't give money to that thing. It's a monster! Aaaaaugh!!

(yeah, I did read it, so I could complain about it without guilt. Scanned through the others too. Breaking Dawn was made of pain)

Really, I have more nightmares about Twilight than I do about zombies.

...but I confess I look forward to your reaction. *wry gryn*

BTW I just started replaying FF7 and I blame you. =)

You may be highly amused. I started reading just a few minutes ago, and I've got a file open to record my thoughts as I go. I got to chapter one and wrote:

"How is wearing your favorite shirt a farewell gesture? This is already stupid."

*gryn* Yep, I do anticipate being highly amused. Heh.

developing some kind of masochism, are you? :)

beware of teh sparkles! :D

[identity profile] sekiharatae.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I just want to be able to fully own any opinions/statements I make about it. =) I've been basing all such off of those of friends and reviewers, and I think I need to stop.

Pain is good for us, right?

[identity profile] ashfae.livejournal.com 2010-07-30 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I think there's a difference between pain that builds character and pain that makes you run around screaming "Oh god, the stupid, it burns, make it stop!!!" ;)

(but I admit: it's fun being scathing about Twilight)

We who are about to sparkle salute you!!!

(actually, v. interested in hearing your opinion... keep feeling like I should read it after reading all of Cleolinda's fantastic summaries and analyses and so on...)

[identity profile] sekiharatae.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. Well, see above -- my reply to Ashfae -- to see how it's going so far. ;)

Yeah, see, I have this same urge... but I don't particularly want to support the sparkle-franchise either. That's one economy that done been overstimulated.

That said, I HAVE head 'Twilight in Sixteen Panels' and it's not made me feel enthusiastic about the prospect of slogging through what is apparently 800 pages of how pretty Edward is.

You should pop over to your local library to get a copy, instead of buying! :) That way, if you don't end up liking it, you don't have a book lying around!

[identity profile] osirissconsort.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, heaven help you.
Properly, I have no right at all to talk--I was a complete Twihard for a while and I still own all four books. But every time I reread them I hate them more. Bella in particular. And Stephenie Meyer's writing in general.
But I'll admit I'm eager to hear your opinions on it. I love hearing your rants and opinions on everything, and this should certainly prove interesting. Have fun reading!

Personally, I have to said that the decision of not buying the books and read them first from the library was one of the best I ever made, taking on account that it saved me from the major amount of frustration that would have resulted from such a a waste of money.

If you are going to the grocery store, be sure to purchase ginger ale to keep the nausea at bay. Some shades to avoid being blinded by the sparkling vampires would be great too :)

Nooooooooooooo! Don't go over to the dark side of the overly described perfection of Edward and plainness-and-somehow-not-plainness? of Bella!

Stay where there's Cloud and Tifa and the world is good!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please just borrow it from the library or someone you know that has it.

I did read the series and brought it, but now I want to get rid of it.

[identity profile] laura-josephsen.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I did that a couple of years ago. During NaNo. You may have read my rant of rage blog about it. I think I may have linked you to it? I didn't know you at the time I read it, anyway.

Ryke tried to read it for objective opinion and couldn't get past the first chapter. (I made it about...eh, 3/4 or 4/5 of the way through before I wanted to just throw it against the wall.)

I know some people who love it and some people who hate it. I look forward to seeing your opinions on it. (Did skim the comments and saw how it's going so far. ;))

You'll slowly have your IQ sucked right out of your brain. Twilight destroys brain cells, so fair warning.
