Follow-up to the previous post
Ok, so... I don't know why, but I've latched on to the
30_lemons prompt of "I Feel Pretty". It's not the prompt I want to work on next, but until I get what I'm going to do for it settled in my head it will continue to harass me.
Which leads to this post/question, because I pretty much know what I think I will write, and I'm just not sure it works for Cloud. (It may not work for Tifa, but I think it does...)
He's going to ask Tifa about going on a date -- a real date, where they go somewhere special -- and asks her what she would like to do. She's going to say she wants to go dancing. Because it is something special (in the sense that I don't see them doing it on a regular basis) and fun and I can imagine her going to parties and such as the mayor's daughter.
The problem will be, of course, that Cloud doesn't know how to dance. This is different from having the ability to dance -- because someone as graceful as the majority of the FFVII characters are should have the ability -- it's just that he never has, and has no real idea how to go about it.
Which I kind of like, because I could at least write part of this idea for the 'people' prompt I have for
12_stories -- the part where he has to ask someone to teach him. (Part of me says he'd ask Aerith, but another part says that -- first -- Tifa might not be happy about that and -- second -- Aerith is dead, despite Cloud's ability to see, feel, and hear her and -- third -- there's really no reason Aerith would know how to dance, either.)
At this point, my brain started yammering that I should make them dance to Beyond the Wasteland, probably my favorite song from Advent Children, and it is extremely danceable... especially if I could figure out what dance it is. (Thank you Ariane! It definitely has some flamenco in it... maybe the reason I can't pick it out is that it's got multiple influences.)
And after listening to/watching several versions of the tango, the paso doble, flamenco, samba, rumba, etc... I'm sort of settled on the tango argentino with maybe a touch of paso doble or flamenco thrown in. (I found some tango flamenco combos that are quite flashy. ^_^)
Which is not to say I would describe all the steps or anything because I don't tango and I'd be hopeless. But it's nice to have a vision in your head.
So I guess the question is: Does anyone else think Cloud could/would learn to tango? It's supposed to be the easiest of ballroom dances to get the basics of, which would be a plus. Anyone else think he'd be absolutely mouth-wateringly sexy while doing it, too?
Some part of me is insisting he not only would learn it, but would like it. < sweatdrop > It is a very passionate yet tightly leashed dance... and that fits him, I think.
ETA: I have actually watched several tangos on YouTube with the sound turned down and Beyond the Wasteland playing. I am obviously obsessed.

I'll be honest, I can't picture Cloud tangoing (or Tifa, really)... BUT if he were going to, could Vincent teach him? Vincent strikes me as someone who knows how to Tango (though I've never played Dirge of Cerberus so maybe I'm totally wrong there)
Not Aerith! Not Aerith! :P
Either way, I look forward to seeing how it turns out ^_^

And it definitely depends on the tango they do. I can't see them doing the ballroom tango, which is what my husband pictured when I asked him. That's the one you usually see in movies and it's always struck me as kinda corny. The Argentine Tango is completely different, and really sexy. None of that stomping around with arms outstretched stuff. (^_^)

I will have to find some way to write it where I make it clear it's not the other one (the corny, dramatic one).
