Eeps! Sorry I didn't reply sooner; I saw that you had posted last night but I was trying to be good and finish my own prompt before I let myself read anything.
I really like how you explained their relationship--it really made perfect sense. Of course people were under the impression they'd already been a couple--I giggled at them thinking that people assumed they'd had a fight when they finally did get around to figuring things out between them.
I loved the description of the dating and how it was weird but Cloud felt he deserved it. I can totally empathize with him; my husband and I never dated. We met, we got engaged, we got married, and it wasn't until after we were married that we had anything that could be considered a date. I think it's great that Cloud still thinks it's something Tifa deserves--dating and flowers. I think their relationship is so unique in that they both lost out on so much of their teenage years--Cloud to experimentation and Tifa to being forced to survive in Midgar after losing everything. Sometimes they can both be so grown up, but sometimes you see glimpses of them and are reminded that they're both so young and they missed out on so much. It's nice to see you writing them "catching up."
"Actually, that was only the main problem. The secondary problem was that he didn’t know very many people, which limited his options as to where he could get help. The tertiary problem was that he wasn’t comfortable with people, which meant even if he knew who to ask, asking was beyond difficult." I adored that line; it just screamed "Cloud" to me. It was perfect for his character.
And you included the buster sword in the church!! :D *finally got to watch ACC the other day* Very nice touch.
It was also great that Cloud called Reeve. It does make the most sense--other friends might know how to dance, but Reeve is probably least likely to tease him about it. :D
It's so sweet how he pulled Marlene and Denzel in on it to help him out. I could picture their expressions exactly as you described them. :D
I liked Tallulah. :D Her comment to him about having nothing to be ashamed of was great--calling him "sweetheart" cinched her image in my mind perfectly. It doesn't surprise me that Cloud is good at dancing; as a fighter, his body memory and ability to move a lot would probably make it very easy for him to learn.
*dies laughing* "The Highwind Hop" Bwahahahaha!!
Oh my goodness, I giggled so hard at Cloud's reaction to the tango, with his stomping and talking down the room to show his point. I really, really like the glimpses of his sense of humor--it doesn't come much or easily with him, but it's there sometimes and you portrayed it wonderfully.
It's great that Tallulah reminded Cloud of his mother. I really did like her. Maybe she'll get to meet Tifa one day and see this woman Cloud worked himself silly for. ;)
